According to reports, the victim has been identified as Subhash Deuri, a first-year law student in Old Dhaka who also assisted with religious activities at the university temple when needed. The incident reportedly occurred when he arrived in the Swamibagh-Wari area of Dhaka on Monday evening.
The family alleges that some unidentified individuals abducted him, took him to a nearby house, and held him captive overnight. During his captivity, he was allegedly subjected to physical and mental abuse, while the abductors demanded money in exchange for his release.
According to reports, the kidnappers allegedly contacted the family and demanded a ransom of approximately 50,000 Bangladeshi Taka. Following repeated calls, the family reportedly transferred a portion of the amount in the hope of securing the victim’s safe release.

Police stated that while trying to flee, he allegedly jumped from a part of the building, resulting in further injuries, including fractures to his leg and hip. He was later admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors indicated that he might require further treatment and surgery.
Investigators have begun examining the location where the victim claimed to have been held hostage. Officials stated that statements are being recorded and evidence is being reviewed to identify those involved and determine whether extortion was the primary motive.
